Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream, 100% cotton yarn, 2.50zn1g = approx 120yd/109m, 1 ball each of Delft Blue and Hot Green
Crochet hook size F-5 US/3.75mm or size needle to obtain gauge

to start
Starting at stem at top of hat, in green, ch 6.
Rnd 1: Starting in second ch from hook, sl st 4 back down chain, ch 1, 8 sc in last ch, then go around the back of stem and join to ch 1, ch 1.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st. join, ch 1.
Rnd 3: Sc in each st, join ch 1
Rnd 4: (lnc, 1 sc round, join ch 1.
Rnd 5: sc in each st, join,ch 1
Rnd 6 (in front loop only): (sk 2 st, 6 dc in one sp,sk 2 st,1 sc) 4 times, join to first ch,fasten off green.
Rnd 7: with blue, in bottom loop of previous rnd, ch 1 and 1 sc in same sp.(inc,1 sc) around, place marker and move marker at end of each round to keep track of rounds .
Rnd 8: sc in each st (36 sc st )
Rnd 9: (Inc, 2sc) around
Rnd 10: sc in each st
Rnd 11: (inc,3 sc ) around.
Rnds 12-28 : for an infant size hat, stop increasing here and spiral down to rnd 28.
For a larger hat, make 1 rnd with 1 sc in each st, then make an increasing rnd of (inc, 4 sc), pm, spiral down to rnd 33
Rnd 29: for small hat, reserve sc in each st, fasten off
