oil painting art by Hennie Niemann Jnr

Born 1972 Bloemfontein,
Lives in Onrus River, South Africa

Hennie Niemann Jnr is a painter who works mainly in Oil on canvas. His mastery of the medium and the development of an iconic personal style is grounded on rigorous tuition from an early age by his artist father, Hennie Niemann Snr and the well-known South African painter and family friend Gregoire Boonzaier. His great success and huge following is not only due to hard work and commitment to his art form, but is evident in the shear impact his bold and confident have on the viewer. Experimenting with the Fauvist aesthetic and further greatly influenced by artists such as Picasso and van Essche his highly expressive works is characterised by a rich impasto surface and bold, confident brushstrokes. His subject matter and models vary capturing people encountered in his travels through Africa, intimate moments or memories shared or purely exercises in expressive movement. His subjects are almost always drenched in the African sun
