The sole feature that differentiates these two breeds is their ears , those of the Norwich terrier are erect , those of the Norfolk dropped . from the earliest days , the Norwich terrier showed both ear types , and the Norfolk was named as a separate breed in 1965 to clarify showing standards . these two breeds are typical terriers , sturdy and feisty , and with strong instinct to hunt vermin . they are more open to obedience training than most terriers and are superb for families with older children . although lively , these small dogs don’t make great demand for exercise .
